The Forest Gym - Where Bodybuilding Means Hard Work

Out & About

Scott Gledhill Leaves CNP

Junior Britain and multi-contest winner, Scott Gledhill, has left CNP.    He has been on their staff for many years and was well known for the help he gave at the office and warehouse in Denton.     He has decided that he wants to go do something different.  We all hope that he will keep his involvement in Bodybuilding.

Good luck, Scott.

EFBB South Coast

The EFBB South Coast 2005, organised by Paul Smith will take place as usual on Easter Sunday.  This is one of the best organised shows in the country and Paul always manages to get a top level Pro to Star as well as give a seminar between the judging and the evening show.    For those of us living in the South, this is the only really good show each year outside of London.  The venue is top class and there is lots of side entertainment for the kids.  The last big plus is the food supply.  There will be good quality food available all through the day — at last there is someone who knows just how much food a bodybuilding audience will consume on an average day and has planned accordingly.

We hope to have one or two Forest Gym competitors this year.   It’s a great show, so be there.

Paco Bautista

The man with the freakiest legs on Earth returns to contests at the 2005 Ironman. He intends to come in ripped with improved upper body.condition.

One of our favourite bodybuilders of all time, Lee Priest in January 2005 just 4 weeks before the Ironman contest.   Very impressive — huge, huge arms and his legs are looking a bit special this year.   In spite of all his other interests, he is still, at heart, first and foremost, a bodybuilder. Lee has been at the top now for almost 13 years — and is still the best short man in the world.  He is only just over 30 years old so he could go on for a few years yet — if the politics don’t get him.

Ironman 2005

The Ironman contest is the first Pro Contest on the bodybuilding calendar each year.  This year the show will be in Pasedena, California on 19th February.    Ed van Amsterdam [above] is one of the competitors along with Dennis James, Troy Alves, Heiko Kallbach, King Kamali, Lee Priest, Craig Titus, Chris cormier and Christian Lobarede.

We liked this awesome picture of Ed van Amsterdam’s traps and massive lats during a gym workout.   Pretty impressive, don’t you think

SEE ARNOLD RUN

A film about Arnold Schwartenegger has been made with Roland Kickinger playing the great man has appeared on American TV.   It compares the drive Arnold showed to win the Mr. Olympia in 1974 with his race for the governorship of California in 2003.  It probablt tells you very little you did not already know about As but it is described by some critics as a bit of a hoot and certainly not to be taken too seriously. I suppose in the fullnes of time, we shall see it filling up space in late night TV. slots.

Only a bit of Member News this month

South Britain winner Paul Stenning is back in training after a couple of years lay-off. Looking lean and mean he is ready to rebuild his lost size.

James Wright is now a father and looking forward to sleepless nights — at least, I think that is what he said.

Wayde Stafford is getting into serious dieting ready for contests in the Spring.

Danny Poole is weighing 19 st and looking big with a lot of extra leg size.

Paul “George” Martin is feeling very enthusiastic, weighing about 17 st and planning for contests in the Autumn.  He wants [he says] a few extra pounds before he starts the dieting.

Other News

Cop killer, David Bieber has been moved from Durham to the maximum security gaol Whitemore in Cambridgeshire.  Of course, the newspapers reporting the move described him as a “bodybuilding fanatic.”    Very helpful!

The purge of bodybuilders and steroid dealers in the USA continues with increasing penalties being handed out.  One guy in Ohio got 2˝ years inside and had to give the government $280,000 — his gains from steroid sales.

The Arnold Classic will be in Columbus, Ohio on March 4th to 6th, 2005.
