IFBB Pro Shows 2007

  • Harold “Big H” Marillier is looking good and on course for the Atlantic City Pro Show on 15th September. He has been dieting hard for many weeks now and should come in at a very tight 280 lbs — or thereabouts.  He has improved all over since his last Pro outing and he has better balance between his upper body and his great legs.  He was training legs on Friday 31st August with Troy Brown and Danny Poole.   A real killer workout with lots of sweat from three men all deep into their pre-contest diets.
  • Troy Brown will be at the Montreal Show on 8th September and he is looking awesome for a man under 5ft 8in.   With
some luck, he will get properly compared with the top guys from America.   I have looked at the competitor list and it is filled with some impressive physiques.  Even so, Troy could get a top ten placing in his first Pro show.
  • The competitor list for Atlantic City also has some good names but i suspect that not everyone has committed yet.   There may be some who do not quite qualify for the Olympia in Montreal who get invited to try again at the Atlantic City one week late.  It is quite possible that many potential competitors are putting off a decision on this show becaue the organisers have decided to spin it out over 2 days with judging on Friday and the show on Saturday.  This means holding impossibly hard condition for two days — not easy and not healthy.
  • Women Competitors

  • Our UKBFF Overall Champion for 2006, Michelle Jones is taking time off from competition to gain some more size and come back with a more mature physique.
  • Sarah Meek, who trains at Cannons in Crawley placed 2nd in the Women’s Physique at the BNBF Central Qualifier and is in hard training for the BNBF Finals in Edinburgh on 30th September.
  • Flick Williams from Cheetahs in Brighton also competed at the BNBF Central Qualifier and also placed 2nd but in the Figure Class. She also is working hard for the BNBF Finals.  We wish both of them the very best of luck.
  • Clair Taubman from Fitness First in Portsmouth is looking good with just 4 weeks to go to the UKBFF Finals.   Could this be her year?
  • All the above are being helped in their preparations by Karen or Harold Marillier.

    Forest Gym Competitors

  • Although this year we have fewer than usual competitors from the full-time members of the Forest Gym, there are many others competing supervised by Harold and Karen Marillier.  Here is the situation at 3rd September.
  • Joe Essadi from Eastbourne competed in the East Midlands Show in Leicester on 2nd September placing 2nd to Will Siddall. Joe was a bit disappointed with his placing and with the fact that he did not receive an invitation to the UKBFF finals.  He put a lot of effort into his preparations and was looking much sharper than ever before. He had easily the best condition in the class but even though he has improved his legs in shape and size they still need more work.  he is now assessing his next move. Personally, I believe that for Joe to achieve his full potential he has to be a HW.
  • Big Dan Poole is weighing 18st [252 lbs] with just 3 weeks to go to the Midlands Classic Show. He has made vast improvements since his last contest outings.  He is better balanced and still looking big. The HW class in Birmingham is going to be a real tough class as it will be the last chance for anyone who wants to qualify for the 2007 Finals..  This does not really matter, because if everyone on stage looks like Jay Cutler, they will all be invited to the Finals.
  • Terry Watson qualified for the UKBFF Finals via his win in the U70Kg Class at the Stars Show last year.   He is looking very much on track to be in superb condition and shape for the Finals.  Good Luck Terry
  • Gary Jones from Fitness First in Fareham is 10 weeks out from the NABBA Novice Britain Finals in Brierley Hill.  He is showing much improved size and on the day he wants to turn the tables on the West Britain finalists who placed ahead of him in the qualifier.
  • Andrew Spooner achieved a very well deserved 2nd in the U70 Kg Class at the BNBF Central Championships and is now in the final stages of his preparations for the NPA SE Show in Chesham in the wilder parts of Buckinghamshire on 8th September.
  • Very bad news about Kevin Davenport from Barnsley who has suffered a serious rupture during training. He has undergone surgery and is now recovering well but all training is out of the question for some months.  This is tragic because Kevin was training for the Masters Class at the UKBFF Finals and was looking in fantastic shape in every respect.  He had shape, size and condition and he must have been a serious contender for the overall win in this class.  When he is fully recovered it will be a question of re-grouping and going for it next year.  Good luck, mate!
  • Inga

Finally, I have to mention Inga Neverauskiate, still living and working in Mansfield will be making her second appearance at the Olympia Figure on 28th/29th September in Las Vegas.  What more can I say about Inga?  She is looking superb and should start to move up teh pro ranks.

    Other Competition News

Marius Dohne, who spent some time in the UK and was a frequent visitor to The Forest Gym, qualifying for the UKBFF Finals in 2005, is now back in South Africa.  He won the SHW division at the Natal State Championships and then went on to place 3rd in the SA Nationals on 2nd September. He now weighs in at 108 kgs [17st] at 5ft 11in.  He looks to have grown and yet kept his classic shape.   He should continue taking top places in any contest he enters. No idea if he intends to come back to the UK.  The main thing is that he should give his full attention to achieving his potential.
